Privacy Policy for The Coding Journal

  1. Information We Collect
    • Personal Information: When you sign in using Google or GitHub, we collect your name and email address. Payment details are collected through Stripe, where you can manage and cancel your billing information in your account settings.
    • User-Created Information: This includes project details, mood, and energy that you voluntarily provide. These are considered confidential and will not be shared with anyone.

    We do not currently collect non-personal data, such as device or browser information.

  2. How We Collect Data

    Data is collected through user inputs and forms within the application. Users have complete control over the data they provide. While no third-party services are currently involved in data collection, we may use Google Analytics in the future to improve the app experience.

  3. How We Use Data
    • To enable users to track their progress and manage their projects.
    • To analyze user data to provide insights and improve app functionality.
    • If implemented, Google Analytics data will be used solely to enhance the app.
    • We do not use collected data for marketing purposes.
  4. Data Sharing

    We do not share user data with third parties. There are no partnerships or integrations that require data sharing.

  5. Data Storage and Security
    • All user data is stored using MongoDB’s cloud service with AWS.
    • We employ high-level encryption and regularly review our security measures.
    • Data is retained indefinitely unless the user deletes it through the designated UI.
  6. User Rights
    • Deletion: Users cannot delete their entire account at this time but can delete individual projects and associated data.
    • Modification and Access: Users can access and modify their data through the app’s interface.
    • Export: Data export functionality is not currently available.
    • Contact: For privacy-related concerns, users can reach out through our contact page.
  7. Legal Compliance

    The Coding Journal complies with applicable data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA, where relevant. Data handling remains consistent regardless of user location.

  8. Third-Party Tools

    The Coding Journal uses Google Material Icons, Font Awesome, DaisyUI, and Stripe for payment processing. While we do not believe these tools collect user data directly through our app, users should refer to their respective privacy policies for more details.

  9. Cookies and Tracking
    • Cookies are used for authentication purposes.
    • No cookies are used for marketing or analytics purposes at this time.
  10. Policy Updates

    Changes to this privacy policy will not be directly communicated to users. However, the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy will reflect any revisions. The policy is reviewed and updated on an annual basis.
